Mawlid an-Nabi (Prophet's Birthday) in the Philippines 2026

Mawlid an-Nabi commemorates the birth of the Prophet Muhammad on the twelfth of Rabi al-Awwal. It is observed by Filipino Muslims, mainly in Mindanao and the Bangsamoro region.

Communities mark the day with Qur'an recitations, religious lectures recounting the Prophet's life, communal meals, and charity to the poor. In some towns there are processions and the decoration of mosques and homes.

The celebration is strongest in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region and across Muslim Mindanao. It is not a Philippine national holiday, though it is an important date in the religious calendar of Filipino Muslims.
